Research on monitoring the environmental consequences of war at the Green Construction – 2026 conference
Co-chair of the NGO "U-Terra" Vasyl Trysnyuk presented research on monitoring the environmental consequences of war at the conference "Green Construction - 2026"
On May 20–21, 2026, the co-chair of the public organization "U-Terra", Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Vasyl Mykolayovych Trisnyuk took part in the work of the V International Scientific and Practical Conference "Green Construction", which was held at the Kyiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture.
As part of the scientific program of the conference, Vasyl Trisnyuk presented a report on the topic "Expertise and Monitoring of Environmental Damage from Military Actions Based on Aerospace and Geoinformation Technologies".
The report highlighted modern scientific approaches to assessing the environmental consequences of war using remote sensing data, aerospace technologies, geoinformation systems and spatial analysis methods. Particular attention was paid to the issues of detecting soil degradation, groundwater contamination, the formation of geochemical anomalies in areas of active hostilities, as well as forecasting long-term environmental risks for natural ecosystems and the population.
During the speech, it was emphasized that modern technologies of satellite monitoring and geoinformation modeling allow for the prompt recording of environmental violations, assessment of the scale of environmental damage, and formation of a scientifically sound information base for decision-making on the restoration of the affected territories of Ukraine.
For the public organization "U-Terra", whose activities are aimed at drawing attention to environmental problems, promoting environmental education, and supporting environmental initiatives, participation in international scientific events is an important tool for combining the efforts of science, civil society, and government agencies in finding effective solutions to overcome the consequences of the war.
The participation of the co-chair of the NGO "U-Terra" in the conference "Green Construction - 2026" contributed to the discussion of current challenges of environmental safety, the development of interdisciplinary cooperation, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge on the need to implement modern environmental monitoring systems as an integral part of the sustainable and environmentally safe restoration of Ukraine.
